KROGAN
Names: Krogan are addressed first by their clan name, and then by their given name. (I.E. Urdnot Wrex, Urdnot Grunt)
Gender: After the genophage made successful reproduction nearly impossible, krogan females have been isolated from the males and are sheltered in all female camps. Fertile females are considered too precious to ever leave Tuchanka, and infertile females often remain as decoys to distract enemies from their fertile counterparts. However, male krogan are free to do whatever they wish.
Lifespan: Krogan have been known to live for thousands of years and are more likely to die in combat than from old age.
Classes: Soldier, Vanguard, Sentinel Krogan are violent and aggressive in nature, and because of their thick hides and redundant organ systems, are very hard to kill. Biotic talent is rare in krogan individuals, but those who possess it usually have strong powers and are often viewed with fear and superstition, making them ideal for officer positions.
Appearance: Krogan are generally over 7 feet tall and weigh nearly a ton with armor. They have wide-set eyes, giving them 240 degree vision, with large shoulder humps which store fluids and nutrients, allowing them to survive for long periods of time without food or water. Larger humps are signs of higher status. Their thick hides are virtually impervious to cuts, scrapes or contusions, and they are highly resistant to environmental hazards, including toxins, radiation, and extreme heat and cold. Younger krogan have yellow or green markings on their hides which darken to brown or tan over time, showing their age. Krogan bleed a yellow or orange fluid when shot.
Things to Note: The krogan were uplifted by the salarians long ago in order to fight the rachni. After the war was won, the krogan were heralded as galactic heroes, though everything would change once the krogan began to rapidly expand throughout the galaxy and settle multiple worlds, including an asari colony. The resulting Krogan Rebellion ended with the use of the genophage, a salarian-engineered bioweapon that caused 999/1000 krogan infants to be stillborn. As the krogan numbers dwindled, the krogan adopted a fatalistic attitude, where strength and self-reliance are respected, and selfishness is merely a means of survival. It should also be noted that krogan have redundant organ systems which make them extremely hard to kill.
